Barilla: high-efficiency SG HE smart boilers in Italy
Barilla has upgraded the energy efficiency of its Pedrignano plant by installing high-performance SG HE Smart boilers, ensuring improved reliability, reduced emissions, and optimal operation for a site with exceptionally high thermal demand.

The challenge
To increase the efficiency of their boiler house in the Pedrignano plant in Italy, the company chose to replace one of the three boilers. Because of the plant’s enormous energy demand, the updated machine needed to be modern, efficient, and reliable.
The solution
We supplied a first SG Series fire tube boiler of 25 ton/h to produce superheated water, with dimensions explicitly created to meet their installation requirements. The heat exchanger was built into a structure of steel joists to protect it in the case of an earthquake.
With our boiler, Barilla exceeds expectations in terms of efficiency and emissions performance. For this reason, in 2016, an additional 25 ton/h HE Smart fire tube boiler was installed in the plant, thus improving efficiency even more.
Our solution includes a training course for all Barilla personnel involved in the thermal plant’s management from Cannon Bono experts.
