In the global pulp and paper market, efficiency is a crucial element in maintaining competitiveness among companies, especially considering rising energy costs. The search for innovative and sustainable solutions, therefore, becomes imperative.
In this context we offer tailored solutions designed to meet the unique needs of paper companies, taking a customized approach that allows us to understand the challenges and ambitions they face. We offer a wide range of steam generation solutions for industrial applications, like the SG series boilers, that guarantee reliability and efficiency, two requisite elements for producing tissue paper.
Sustainability: renewable energy sources at the heart of production
E.ON contacted us to provide such a solution for their customer’s plant, the DS Smith paper mill in Aschaffenburg, one of Europe’s leading paper and board producers. After carefully evaluating their needs, we developed a tailor-made solution, proposing two SG 3000 series auxiliary steam boilers. They are capable of producing 30 t/h of superheated steam at 185°C, providing a powerful supplement and backup to the steam produced by the mill’s main boiler.
Both boilers are configured to use natural gas, ensuring a reliable energy source. One boiler is prepared for a possible integration of biogas at a later stage. This flexibility also enables boilers to adapt to the dynamic market needs and increasingly stringent environmental policies.
Reliable excellence and performance solutions for success
E.ON’s decision to opt for our solution was influenced by the positive experience they had with a similar system installed in 2020 at DS Smith’s paper mill in Kemsley, England. During that collaboration, E.ON installed four of our auxiliary boilers, which deliver 22 t/h of superheated steam at 220°C.
Although the auxiliary boilers were not the main source of steam in the plant, their backup and supplementary role proved to be critical in guaranteeing a continuous and reliable supply of steam, minimizing the risk of production interruptions. This enabled DS Smith to maintain high production levels while ensuring excellent energy efficiency and significantly lowering emissions.
The project’s success in Aschaffenburg strengthened our partnership with E.ON and DS Smith, which has given us the confidence to continue providing innovative solutions for its production facilities with our cutting-edge technologies that look toward a more sustainable future.
Dedicated support for industry needs
We were able to work closely with DS Smith and E.ON to guarantee seamless integration of the auxiliary boilers with the plant’s main boiler, thanks to the support of our experienced and knowledgeable team. The synergy between the different steam production systems allowed us to optimize the mill’s entire production process, minimizing waste and maximizing paper and board production performance.
Our support was key at every stage, from design through implementation. The result is a more efficient, environmentally friendly paper mill successfully strongly positioned in the global market.
