Our expertise in advanced thermal solutions has recently supported an innovative chemical production plant in Shandong province, China. The project showcases cutting-edge thermal oil technology combined with a focus on sustainability and operational excellence.
The client is a high-tech enterprise specializing in R&D, production, and operation of electronic chemicals. Its main product, N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), is a key solvent in lithium-ion battery manufacturing. During NMP synthesis, a significant amount of hydrogen (H₂) is generated as a by-product. To optimize efficiency and sustainability, they sought a reliable heating solution to utilize this hydrogen as fuel. The goal was to integrate hydrogen with natural gas (CH₄) in their energy system, reducing emissions and lowering operational costs.
The advantages of our OMP Thermal Oil Heaters
We supplied two OMP thermal oil heaters, each with a capacity of 7 MW. These heaters are engineered to meet the plant’s specific needs, offering:
- Dual-fuel flexibility: equipped with a Burner Management System (BMS), the heaters are designed to safely and efficiently handle any hydrogen-to-natural gas ratio, maximizing both flexibility and resource efficiency
- Advanced combustion control: integrated Optispark F3 technology ensures optimal combustion, enhancing energy efficiency and minimizing emissions
- Thermal oil system: providing higher performance, thermal oil heaters are ideal for processes requiring precise temperature control
- Reduced energy consumption, production costs and air pollutant emissions
Notable operational and environmental benefits were achieved by utilizing hydrogen as a primary fuel source. Hydrogen, previously treated as a byproduct, has been transformed into a valuable energy resource, significantly reducing the plant’s reliance on natural gas.
This transition also contributed to minimizing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the company’s sustainability objectives. Moreover, our proven expertise in the chemical sector ensured that the dual-fuel system was seamlessly integrated, delivering robust performance and improved reliability even under complex operating conditions.
Our solution was selected based on our demonstrated experience in providing efficient and reliable thermal solutions for the chemical sector, reinforcing our reputation for delivering successful applications.
This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions tailored to the evolving needs of industries worldwide. By harnessing the power of hydrogen and combining it with cutting-edge thermal oil technology, Cannon Bono is enabling clients to achieve greater efficiency, lower costs, and a smaller environmental footprint.
