Empowering the dairy industry with advanced boiler solutions driving efficiency and sustainability to concrete results

December 16, 2024
Granarolo S.p.A., the largest milk producer in Italy, has always strived to ensure quality and safety for its clients, consistently seeking 360° sustainability. This commitment translates into finding partners who can collaborate to achieve these goals.
Simbiosi, a leader in resource efficiency, has embarked on this initiative to optimize the energy consumption of Granarolo’s production plants. Starting with energy efficiency themes, Simbiosi began closely monitoring the consumption of steam, compressed air, and chilled water to evaluate the use of gas and electricity. With a detailed history of consumption data, Simbiosi was able to formulate targeted proposals for improving industrial processes. The main objective was to maximize the use of natural resources while simultaneously reducing energy costs and environmental impact. Simbiosi’s collaboration with Cannon Bono, based on our extensive experience in industrial heating solutions, had a clear objective: to transform Granarolo’s existing plant into an exemplary model of energy efficiency.
Resource Optimization for Sustainable Industrial Processes
The project involved replacing two of the three thermal oil heaters in the existing plant with two SG 1200 steam generators with HE Smart, designed to maximize energy efficiency and reduce emissions. Additionally, a thermophisical deaerator was installed to further improve system performance.
With the adoption of the Loading Sharing System (LSS), an advanced management system, the boilers operate in a coordinated manner, optimizing fuel consumption and ensuring the maintenance of a precise and optimized pressure set point within the steam manifold, thanks to a dedicated pressure transmitter.
To ensure complete control and optimal connectivity, our advanced monitoring and management system OptiSpark was also implemented. Finally, the generators were equipped with an advanced system for controlling flue gas temperature, thereby maximizing efficiency under all operating conditions.
A key feature of our proposal was the planning of activities so that the plant could continue its normal operations during the installation and upgrade process. This ensured no interruptions in production and minimized downtime.
The collaboration between Simbiosi and Cannon Bono led to a significant improvement in the energy efficiency of Granarolo‘s plant. Thanks to innovative and technologically advanced solutions, it was possible to optimize the use of natural resources, reducing operating costs and environmental impact. This is a tangible example of how the partnership between companies dedicated to energy efficiency can lead to concrete and sustainable results.
