Biomedica Foscama: SG 400 & SMR 400 boilers for pharma

Biomedica Foscama is an Italian pharmaceutical company specialized in developing and producing medicines, renowned for its exceptionally high-quality standards and using the industry’s most advanced technologies.

The company needed to replace two outdated and inefficient flash-coil boilers. They sought a solution that could enhance steam production stability and improve the plant’s overall energy efficiency.

We proposed installing an SG 400 fire tube steam generator, which is capable of replacing the output of both existing boilers thanks to its production capacity and high burner modulation range.

To support the production process and ensure maximum efficiency, we also supplied, through an EPC contractor, an SMR 400 heat recovery steam generator to be installed downstream of an internal combustion engine. The startup is planned for 2025.

The SG generator is equipped with an economizer and optimized standby control. This ensures exemption from continuous supervision for up to 72 hours and achieves efficiency over 96%. In combination with the cogeneration plant, it will deliver superb energy performance and maximum production flexibility.

Thanks to its integration with the production management system, the solution meets Industry 4.0 requirements, offering interconnection, real-time monitoring, and control.
